Stock futures rose in late night trade on Sunday, ahead of a busy week for corporate earnings.

Futures linked to the Dow Jones industrial average added 0.15%, while S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq-100 futures rose 0.17% and 0.2%, respectively.

Stocks are coming off a mixed session and week. The S&P 500 advanced 0.45% for its second consecutive positive week, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.79%. The Nasdaq composite lost about 0.2% for the week and fell 1.23% during Friday’s session, while the S&P fell 0.5% and the Dow rose 0.12%.

Oil prices rose more than 5% during Friday’s session and posted their best day since April as the conflict between Israel and Hamas fueled some fears over oil production in the region.

Meanwhile, Wall Street weighed in on reports from major financial firms, with JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo gaining 1.5% and 3%, respectively.

Despite these positive results, some on Wall Street see higher volatility at the end of the year as yields and oil prices rise, inflation remains sticky and conflicts in the Middle East loom, said Cantor Fitzgerald’s Equity Derivatives and Cross-Eric Johnston. Property.

“This Mideast situation shows that when you own stocks, you take risks,” he told CNBC’s “Closing Bell” on Friday. “As a result, you have to get good upside returns to justify that risk, because there are things like this situation out of nowhere.”

Over the weekend, Israel’s military continued to urge residents to evacuate northern Gaza amid a widely expected ground invasion. Meanwhile, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) said Sunday that the Senate will work to quickly pass a military aid package to help Israel fight Hamas.

Earnings season heats up this week as 11% of the S&P 500 reports results. Johnson & Johnson, Bank of America, Netflix and Tesla are some notable names on deck. Charles Schwab will announce the results before noon on Monday.

On the economic front, Wall Street is looking ahead to the Empire State Index for October due out on Monday.
