Weymouth Cubs win baseball championship

The Weymouth Cubs won the 2011 Weymouth Minor Baseball combined Pee Wee and Mosquito championships.

They won the final series against the Weymouth White Sox two games to one. All games were played at Weymouth’s Cricket Field.

The cubs won the first game on Sept. 9, 13-12. The White Sox evened things up with a 13-12 win of their own on Sept. 11.

The final game on Sept. 14 was tied 8-8  in the sixth inning when the Cubs’ Dawson Hill stole third. MacKenzie Mullen popped one up down the third baseline allowing Hill to score the winning run.

The White Sox beat the Weymouth Cardinals to advance to the finals and the Cubs defeated the Digby Red Sox. The Digby Royals and Clare finished the season fifth and sixth respectively.
