Annapolis RCMP were still at the scene of the accident at 4:30 p.m. The crash happened at about noon, Aug. 17, in front of the fertilizer plant just outside of Middleton.
A collision reconstructionist was called to the scene after the injured woman was moved from the crash site.
Police say the 47-year-old woman was thrown from the scooter after it was struck by the SUV. Both vehicles were travelling east on Highway 1.
The SUV shows damage on the front end passenger side, while the scooter came to rest behind the vehicle. Debris from the scooter could be seen on the road and in the yard in front of the fertilizer plant.
The road was open to one lane of traffic while the investigation continued throughout the afternoon. The Department of Transportation was also on the scene to provide traffic control.
RCMP Cpl. Dione Canning said the cause of the collision is unknown at this time and police continue to investigate.
NOTE: A previous version of this story described the vehicle as a van. Police say it was a midsize SUV.
