Jonathan Majors expresses 'shock' at verdict in first interview since assault conviction

Jonathan Majors' The sentencing hearing was postponed after the actor was scheduled to appear in court to hear his convictions following a December jury conviction in his domestic assault case.

Attorneys for Majors filed a motion to set aside the verdict, which under New York law can be filed after sentencing but before sentencing, late Monday night.

Prosecutors have until next month to respond to the motion and Judge Michael Coffey has scheduled a new sentencing hearing for April 8.

The former Marvel star, 34, was found guilty in December of third-degree assault and harassment. The jury acquitted him of one count of assault and one count of aggravated harassment. He faces a maximum jail term of one year.

Officers arrested Majors in March 2023, accusing Ms Jabbari of slapping her and throwing her into a car.

Following his sentencing, Majors' lawyer Priya Chowdhury said it was “clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari's story of what happened in the SUV because it found that Mr Majors did not intentionally cause her any injuries”.

Both Marvel and the Walt Disney Corporation severed their ties with the majors.
