DIGBY, N.S.- Wharf Rat Rally bikers participated in a meet and greet with some patients from Digby General Hospital, residents from Tideview Terrace and some clients from Conway Workshop.
Wharf Rat Rally ambassador Kevin Bean’re was on site taking attendees for a ride in his motorcycles sidecar.
Pat Wilson went for a drive with Bean’re and she didn’t stop smiling until the sidecar pulled back into the hospital parking lot.
“I think it’s fabulous they do this,” she said.
She’s only been on one other bike but her drive in the side car will be one to remember.
“It’s great for all of us to get outside and take part in this.”
The Wharf Rat Rally organizes a meet and greet and show for the hospital annually.
Each year residents have the opportunity to go for a ride on a bike and they host a competition for the best bikes attending the event.
Following the event Bean’re went to Tideview Terrace, a home for special care in Digby. There he gave willing residents a ride around town.
At Tideview Terrace Bean're met Connie Bisson, who was so excited for her ride that she started yodelling.
"That was so much fun," she said as the bike returned to Tideview.
Staff at Tideview brought a lift outside so even residents using wheelchairs could have their turn on the bike.
“This is what makes it all worthwhile,” said Bean’re
