Giving thanks: Digby and Area proud of their volunteers


DIGBY, N.S. —

Digby and Area expressed their pride and appreciation to 46 volunteers who were recognized and celebrated at the 2019 Volunteer Recognition Ceremony held at the Digby Regional High School Theatre on April 10.

The 2019 Volunteer Representative Awards were presented to:

Bill Adshade, Malcolm Bates, Lori Bertaux, Roy Bertaux, Ruth Burke, Kaylynn Caldwell, Heather Crocker, Kendal Crocker, Ritchie Crocker, Jacqueline Dugas, Ruth Graham, Marlene Haight, Myrna Haight, Brenda Hannam, Helen Ivens, Bea Jauch, Eugen Jauch, Mary Johns, James Klyszejko, Daniel McMillan, Anthony McCullough, Susan McCullough, Edward McCormick, Malcolm McNeil, Chuck Mills, Margaret Mills, Gaye Morrell, Ross Morrell, Ronald Muise, Melisa Noiles, Vivian O'Neil, Vanessa Parent, Anne Round, Megan Stark, Alex Smith-Joyce, Helen Teed, Jane Thiebault, Debby Trask-Cushing, Sharon Theriault, Donna Turner, Wendy Watson and Keith Weagle.

Provincial Volunteer Awards went to Ronald VanTassel from the Town of Digby and Roger Outhouse from the Municipality of the District of Digby.

Jensen Elliot and Zoe Thibault received the Youth Volunteer Award.

In his closing remarks at the end of the ceremony Bob Powell, Digby area recreation director thanked all the volunteers and those who came out to support and celebrate those receiving awards.

“Volunteers are essential to our community’s success,” Powell said. “In order for us to continue recruiting and retaining volunteers we must provide a quality volunteer experience, make sure they know their job is valuable and most importantly, thank them.”
