The 96th Academy Awards were presented tonight at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, after a brief delay due to protests calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, with “Oppenheimer” winning seven Oscars for best picture. , director (Christopher Nolan) and lead actor (Cillian Murphy).

“Poor Things” had several winners, including lead actress Emma Stone. Screenplay awards went to “American Fiction” and “Anatomy of a Fall,” and in one of the most emotional moments of the night, the supporting actress Oscar went to Davein Joy Randolph for “The Holdovers.” “The Last Repair Shop,” a documentary that the Los Angeles Times helped produce, was a narrow success.

As with most of last year, all eyes were on “Barbenheimer,” with the much-loved “Oppenheimer” leading the way with 13 nominations and “Barbie” with eight. “Poor Things” received 11 nominations and “Killers of the Flower Moon” received 10.
