Crossfires capture provincial medal

The under-14 Digby Crossfires club volleyball team won a bronze medal in Volleyball Nova Scotia’s provincial championships April 20-21 at the Canada Game Centre in Halifax.

In the finals to decide third place, Digby defeated the Gales from Herring Cove 25-17 and 25-21.

Digby’s Haylea O'Neil was also named an all-star at the tournament.

In round-robin play, Digby downed Intrepide (Halifax) 25-12 and 25-17 in the opening match, but lost in three sets to Dartmouth.

A third match saw Digby defeat the Gales 25-19 and 25-06, but dropped a three-set series to Southwest Fusions from Yarmouth, the team that led after the round-robin.
