The toughest game of the tournament came against Clare-Digby rivals Shelburne Flames. The Flames jumped out 3-0 early in the first period and led 4-0 entering the second frame.
Team manager Liette Deveau said the team was down but not out as they held the Flames scoreless in the second period and trailed 4-2.
“Brett Hall scored our first goal of the game in the second period with Michel Comeau and Brady Gavel getting the assist,” Deveau said, “Miguel DeJesus added another goal assisted by Kaiden Longmire and that gave the team the energy it needed for the final period.”
Hall scored assisted by Tufts and Patrick Melanson. Michel Comeau tied it up with Zach Comeau getting the assist to force overtime. Longmire netted the overtime goal assisted by Dejesus sending the squad to the championship game against the Sackville Flyers.
Izaac Deveau was strong in goal denying the Flames the opportunity to score in both periods as well as OT.
“Kaiden's OT goal was electrifying,” said Deveau. “This was the most exciting game of the tournament for us and eliminating the Flames in the semi-final match gave our team an extra boost of self confidence heading into the championship game.”
Clare-Digby dominated the match against the Sackville Flyers finishing the tournament with a 6-2 victory. DeJesus had a hat trick with one unassisted goal and assists by Michel Comeau and Longmire.
Gavel assisted on Tufts' goal while Gavel and Michel Comeau assisted on Hall's goal. Gavel and Chase Comeau assisted on Longmire's goal.
