Boys hosting MAC championship Friday, Saturday

Lorenzo Parker scored 20 points to lead the Horton Griffins to a 77-53 victory over Colonel Gray in the final of the Winterfest boys’ basketball tournament in Upper Tantallon.

Adam Melanson added 18 in the win while Alex Thomas had 14 and Bradley Fuller 13 against the Prince Edward Island school.

Horton led 40-31 at the half and closed out the victory with a 15-4 fourth quarter.

In other action the Griffins defeated the host Sir John A. Macdonald Flames 87-59 and the Cole Harbour Cavaliers 84-37. Parker had 23 against Cole Harbour and 30 against the Flames.

The boys will be hosting the MAC championship this weekend with the Griffins playing Park View Friday at 10 a.m. and North Nova at 6 p.m.  The championship is slated for 4 p.m. Saturday.
