The Sandford drawbridge, a well-known tourist attraction, requires repair or replacement to the mechanics that raise and lower the bridge. Some of the rotten wood in the structure also needs to be replaced.
The Sandford Harbour Authority will be working with Small Craft Harbours to put together a proposal to be presented to all levels of government for funding to repair the bridge.

Yarmouth Municipal Councillor Patti Durkee was pleased to hear the news.
“I spoke to the harbour authority Kevin Shaw and he is prepared to go ahead with a proposal,” she said.

The drawbridge is located 11 kilometres from Yarmouth on the Ross Durkee Road in the fishing community of Sandford.

In the past, the drawbridge has allowed fishing boats to enter and exit, while fishermen, residents and visitors can walk along the waterfront from one side of the harbour to the other without having to leave the wharf.
