DIGBY – The driver of a fifth-wheeler camper trailer is okay after his trailer flipped on its side near the Digby ferry terminal.

It appears the driver was coming from the ferry terminal March 18 when the trailer slipped off the road on the right side of the road, caught a culvert and slammed over its on right side.

The trailer is not blocking traffic at this time.

It did land across the start of the Bay View or Bay Shore Road, a gravel road which winds along the edge of the Digby Gut. There is still room for small vehicles to access the Bay View Road but a safer easier option would be to travel via Lighthouse Road.

The driver reported the accident to the Digby RCMP who were on the scene until crews from the Department of Transportation arrived.

A flatbed truck is expected to remove the trailer this afternoon.

Winds were light at the time of the accident. The RCMP are looking into the cause.
