Water Street and First Avenue will be bikes only for the Wharf Rat Rally weekend.

Starting Friday morning, Aug. 29 at 8 a.m. Montague Row, Water Street and Birch Street will be one way flowing north.

First Avenue will be one way flowing south for motorcycles only starting at 5 p.m. Friday until Monday at 8 a.m. First Avenue will be a tow zone for any vehicles other than motorcycles for that time.

Only registered bikes or residents with passes will be allowed past the barricades.

A volunteer will be directing traffic up Mount Street at a barricade on the south side of First Avenue at the intersection with Mount to alleviate congestion and confusion on Warwick Street.

Wharf traffic will use Maiden Lane during the rally.

The traffic lights at Warwick and Victoria will be turned off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 with RCMP directing traffic.

A shuttle service will run from Conway to First Avenue for people wanting to park away from the downtown.

Organizers have planned two parades of bikes in the town besides the group runs.

Saturday night a Parade of Lights will leave the big Tim Hortons at 10 p.m. and head downtown.

On Sunday morning at 11 a.m. a group will leave the big Tim’s for Tideview Terrace and then continue downtown.

The downtown parking lots at the marina and by the Digby Courier will be closed for a week starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25 to Monday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
