SOUTHWESTERN, N.S. – Break out the popcorn as five branches of Western Counties Regional Library celebrate National Canadian Film Day on April 17 and 18 by showing Canadian films. The spotlight is on female filmmakers this year, the fifth annual National Canadian Film Day.
Library branches in Digby, Westport, Barrington, Lockeport, Shelburne and Yarmouth will be showing the films, Long Time Running, a documentary on the final tour of The Tragically Hip; Maudie, a feature film on the life of Nova Scotia artist Maud Lewis; or Bluefin, a documentary exploring the baffling mystery of why the normally wary bluefin tuna caught in P.E.I. no longer fear humans.
Times and location of the films are listed below. There is no admission charge for any of the films. There is limited seated capacity.
National Canadian Film Day is a core program of REEL CANADA, a non-profit, charitable organization that promotes the diversity of Canadian film and its power to spark important conversations about our nation and what it means to be Canadian.
