WINDSOR, N.S. - A funny and touching children’s show, Two in the Coop, is on tour and coming to Windsor this Spring.

The play, written by Ron Fromstein, is a funny yet meaningful tale about two young birds who can’t find their mother.

Tessa Mendel, director of Two in the Coop said the story is simple on the surface but the complexity of the relationships shines through in the characters.

“They have been left in the nest by their mother and basically are just learning how to cope with her absence because she doesn’t return,” Mendel said. “They’re worried she’s not going to return at all.”

“It’s very fun and also very touching,” she added.

This is the first show the company Halifax Theatre for Young People has taken on the road, with stops also scheduled throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Labrador.

“It’s geared really towards six to nine-year-olds, but it is so accessible on so many levels,” she said. “It allows for a little bit of an exploration of the human condition - through birds. It’s also just very funny to see two adults dressed as birds talking seriously to each other.”

Mendel said audiences can anticipate lots of physical and verbal comedy.

Taylor Olson and Rachel Hastings play the part of the two winged siblings trying to figure things out.

The Windsor show is on April 29, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mermaid Theatre.

Tickets are $13 advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketpro.ca, by phone at 1-888-311-9090, or in person at Windsor Home Hardware and all other Ticketpro outlets.
