BEAR RIVER, N.S- The Spring ox pull at the Bear River exhibition grounds took place on May 19.

48 pairs took place in the pull, splitting the cattle into five weight classes.

“It’s a growing event. We were really happy with the turnout this year,” said event volunteer Debbie Haight.

The cattle start off pulling 1000 pounds each and the weight increases after each pull to determine the winner.

Cattle must pull the weight three feet in order for it to count.

The weight of the cattle and amount they pull is divided together to get their total score.

We would like to thank all the people that attended the ox pull. Spectators and Participants, as well as all of our hard-working volunteers who made the day possible,” Haight said.
