Digby Regional’s Lady Mariners hosted Districts after claiming first place in Digby County league action against St. Mary’s Bay Academy and Islands Consolidated.
The first game of the afternoon saw the Mariners take on ARRA, which finished second in Annapolis County league play.
ARRA Royals defeated Digby, 32-19. The Mariners’ Sophie Amirault posted 10 points and Kendra Lewis added four.
Rea Pictou netted 13 for the Royals who advanced to the championship final.
The Middleton Monarchs advanced to the championship game by downing St. Mary’s Bay Academy Stingrays, 38-17, in the second game of the afternoon.
Rachel Johns had seven points for the Stingrays and Micaella Sabine added four. Middleton’s Julie Theisen had a game-high 12 points.
In consolation play, the Lady Mariners took down the Stingrays, 43-26, to claim third place. Both teams played a close first half with the Lady Mariners out front 26-20 at the half.
Digby edged SMBA, 7-6, in the third quarter then surged ahead 10-0 in the final frame for the victory.
Kendra Lewis led the Mariners with 12 points and Mallory Francis scored nine. Laurel Wagner dropped in 12 and Michaela Raymond chipped in six for the Stingrays.
Middleton Monarchs reign at Districts
