Horse trainer and riding instructor Shelagh Starr hosted a ‘fun day’ for local horsewomen March 29 at Vintage Farms, a Southville riding facility owned by Paula and Jason Mullen.

Pony Josie and quarterhorse Jake provided participants with the opportunity to learn more about Chris Irwin training methods.

Pulling a cart was a new task for Josie, so Starr and her colleagues showed how to get her used to the sight, sound and the feel of the

cart.

Esther Banks and Annette MacQuarrie, two of the six Chris Irwin certified trainers present, demonstrated the calming influence of non-resistance training.
