Approximately 100 students from Digby, Barton, Digby Neck, Islands and Weymouth participated in the one-day event.
Weymouth players demonstrated their soccer skills in playing the field, using stamina and passing as well as team effort to achieve two wins with 11 cumulative points for a first-place finish.
Barton placed second and the Digby Elementary Blue came in third.
Tournament coordinator Karen Shupe of Digby Elementary said the teams enjoyed the friendly competition but there was an underlying purpose to the event.
“The event is held to give all physical education students, with no exclusions, the opportunity to be exposed to the sport of soccer,” said Shupe. “It helps develop good sportsmanship, an important component to any competitive sport.”
