Playoff action opens this evening

Local high school teams are in Division 3 championship playoffs beginning later today. The Stingrays from St. Mary’s Academy are scheduled to play Cape Breton Highlands Academy at 8 p.m. in senior boys' quarterfinals at Hants North Rural High School in Kennetcook.

The Lady Mariners from Digby Regional High School had father to travel to reach their playoffs at Terre Noire, home of Cape Breton Highlands Academy. The girls’ first game is also at 8 p.m. against Halifax Grammar School.

There are eight teams competing in each of the playoffs, and championship games for both boys and girls begin at 3 p.m. Saturday.
