A full report is not available, but the senior boys also lost in their game Friday night in Antigonish, playing under the lights at St. Francis Xavier University.

Although they dominated during much of the game and had more scoring chances, the Digby Regional girls fell 2-1 to l’Ecole Par-en-Bas in the tournament’s first game today on the Mariners’ home field.

The Digby girls had reached the finals in each of the two preceding years and were favored to advance, but were only able to score in the dying seconds. Sam Adam kicked in a loose ball in a goalmouth scramble.

Two earlier shots Digby bounced off goal posts, and another went just high and through the crossbars. Par-en-Bas will now meet the winner of the day’s second game between last year’s champions, École du Carrefour from Dartmouth, and the Strait Area Education and Recreation Centre from Port Hawkesbury.

The Mariners will play in the bronze medal game tomorrow at 10 a.m., with the golf medal game at noon.
