Fourteen athletes from Digby Regional High School are advancing to Nova Scotia’s track and field championships after qualifying at the regionals Friday and Saturday in Bridgetown.

Leading the way for the Mariners is Kyle States, who won the long jump competition, and came second in both the triple jump and high Jump. He also qualified fifth in the 4x1 relay.

Joseph Robicheau qualified in three events, with a second in the 3000-metre, and third place finishes the 1,500m and 800m races.

Digby’s 4x4 relay team of Bryon Reitzel, Ryan Amero, Armando Zaragoza and Chris Hersey finished in fourth, while Reitzel and Amero also qualified as members of the fifth-place 4x1 relay team. The fourth member of that team is Cory Saulnier.

Hersey finished fourth as well in the 5,000m race.

In discus, Ryker Titus earned a second place finish, with Rebekah Cook third and James Brophy fourth.

Joleesa Robinson was third in triple jump, while Colton Farris was fourth in the 3000m, and fifth place finishes went to Rebecca Walker in high jump and Jonnie White in the 800m race.
