Last week, local soccer fields were busy with season openers.
On Tuesday, Sept. 18, the Digby Regional High School senior girls soccer team travelled to Bridgetown for their season opener. The girls played strong but came up short, finishing with a 2-0 loss to Bridgetown Regional High School.
The following day, the D.R.H.S Jr. Boys made their way to Bridgetown to face off in their first soccer match of the season. At the half, the score was 3-0 for Bridgetown. But Digby dominated in the second half, first with a breakaway goal from Nathan Janson, followed by a goal from Logan Bell, assisted by Nathan Janson. However, a third goal was not in the cards, and Bridgetown took the win with a final score of 3-2.
In the first home game of the season, the D.R.H.S senior boys soccer team played Middleton Regional High School, Thursday, Sept. 20.
It was a close match in the first half, ending with a score of 0-0. But minutes into the second half, forward Zane Lynch scored to make it 1-0 for Digby. Lucas Knotek scored two more goals for Digby in the second half, giving them the first Digby win of the season with a 3-0 finish.
