Pond hockey has gone indoors at the Digby rink.

Digby Area Recreation is offering pond hockey for kids aged 6 to 12 for free every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Every skill level is welcome, as long as they have basic skating skills.

More than 30 young skaters turned out for the first session on Thursday, Dec. 6.

Organizers had them do a couple laps to sort out the players with experience from the beginners.

Then they let them at it.

“It is a great way to get kids on the ice and enjoying non-competitive hockey,” says Cindy O’Neil of DARC. “We don’t keep score, we just have fun.”

Players are expected to bring skates, a helmet with cage and a stick but parents can contact DARC at 245-5006 for help finding equipment.
