The Clare Mutual Lions won their home opener against the Barrington 5-3.
The Lions hosted the Ice Dogs at the Université Sainte-Anne last night, Friday, Oct. 12.
Bennet Munro scored three times for the Lions and two of those were unassisted. Munro also assisted on Brandon Challenor’s goal. Anthony LeBlanc also had one goal.
Stan Bishara was between the posts for the win.
Robert Surette, Mike Link and Nathan Thousand scored for Barrington.
For the second half of their home opener weekend, Clare hosts the newest Nova Scotia Junior team, the Shannon Huskies of Dartmouth tonight, Saturday, Oct. 13.
Game starts at 8 p.m. Adult tickets are $5 and students $3. Season tickets in Clare are $60 for adults and $30 for students.
The Lions are starting a booster club as well to help cover “away” expenses.
With a $10 membership, boosters get $1 off every home game and a chance to win a Lions ball cap at drawn for at random games.
The booster club is also considering Saturday pre-game bowling with the team, car washes with players, team breakfasts, even sending players to birthday parties.
