The Weymouth Firebirds Midget ‘A’ baseball team is headed to provincials.
The Firebirds beat the Bridgewater Bulldogs in two straight games at the best-of-three district tournament in Bridgewater on Saturday, Aug. 11.
The Firebirds won the first game 6-0. Mackenzie Ford was the winning pitcher, with 14 strikeouts. He also hit a two-run double.
Catcher Dylan Cormier threw out four base ruuners in that game.
In the afternoon game the Firebirds won 3-2. Byron Mullen was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts.
Greg Nesbitt had a double and scored a run. Mackenzie Mullen had one RBI.
The Firebirds now move on to provincials in Shelburne on Friday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept.2.
