New this year is tee-ball for ages five to eight. As well, Digby’s four minor baseball teams will be able to compete against teams in Weymouth's league, said Digby Area Minor Baseball Association president Sean Brown.
He said playing teams in Weymouth will give Digby’s teams a chance to play against new people.
"There are so many good ball players here. They don't get to go and show it anywhere," Brown said, pointing to a shortage of leagues in the Valley,
This season, the Digby association plans to take two age groups to provincial tournaments and coaches will take a certification course to coach at provincial tournaments, he noted.
The annual all-star game will include Weymouth this year as well.
Brown hopes for about 60 players this year, up from the 45 who played last year. The age group is also changing from 8-12 to 9-13.

"We're trying to grow the league with the players we have," said Brown. "I'd like to eventually have the age group right from 9-18 because the high school doesn't have any baseball."
The season officially starts May 1 but the league will hold a barbeque April 24 at Walmart to start fundraising.
The minor baseball association will hold registration April 13 and April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Digby Area Arena. Registration fees for ages 9-13 is $50 and tee-ball registration for ages 5-8 will be $25.
