Winner of the series advances to the provincial championships in Canso.

The second game of the series will be played Saturday in Tantallon on St. Margaret’s Bay outside Halifax.

Digby goals Sunday were scored by Koty Nesbitt, Jesse Jelfs, Frank Pictou and Nick Wagner.

Goalie Mark Wagner played another strong game between the pipes, settling down after the Ducks scored the first goal of the game. “The kids really enjoyed it. They were an excited bunch of boys,” said coach Kevin Locke, whose son Eric played a strong play-making role on defense.

He said the Ravens team began the season as a ragtag bunch, but since finding their form have been showing themselves capable of winning.

The Ravens played Bridgetown—a team that’s a division higher—on Friday and kept the game tied at 1-1 until a soft goal with three minutes remaining gave Bridgetown the win.

Some of the Ravens’ success is credited to their fans, said the coach. “People have been great, coming out for the games and cheering them on,” said Locke, who said the team has really appreciated the support.
