The Lions scored five goals in the second frame as the Fuelers struggled to clear the net from their end, and only a hard working Tyler Robertson was able to score for the Digby-based team.
The game started well for the visiting Fuelers, with both teams playing evenly through most of the opening period. It wasn’t until the 2:17 mark that the Lions got on the board with Serge McCauley scoring his first of two on the night.
Maxime Wilson, who also scored two in the game, added a second goal for the Lions with just over a minute and a half left as the Fuelers began to show signs of tiredness.
Team manager Justin Wood said a combination of exam timing for some players, and lobster fishing for others, reduced the team numbers.
The Fuelers’ two leading scorers, Robertson and Eric Cook, each add goals in the third period, matching a pair from the Lions.
Fuelers’ goalie Chris Hersey took the loss in goal and Grant Gaudet got the win as the Lions outshot the Fuelers 52-16.
Clare got singles from Marc MacIntosh, Marc Lombard, Korey Cuvelier, Marc André d'Entremont and Jean Marc d'Entremont.
Saturday’s game was a make-up. A similar make-up game with Barrington in Digby today was cancelled by the storm.
