SMBA finishes strong in losing effort to AWEC

St. Mary’s Bay Academy senior softball team finished strong in a losing effort against Annapolis West Education Center in a doubleheader May 20 at the Little Brook ball field.

The first game saw AWEC take down the Stingrays 11-3 with a strong final inning for the visitors.

The second game was a closer match with a 10-5 win for AWEC with SMBA playing a stronger game.

The second match was to have been played under the lights but the game had to be called due to lighting difficulties.

Both teams advance to the St. Croix tournament on Saturday.
