Three local golfers have been recognized at the NSGA player of the year awards, based on their finishes in various tournaments throughout the golfing year.

Myles Creighton of Digby finished his extraordinary season by winning the NSGA junior boys player of the year award. The 14-year-old finished the season with 285 points, well ahead of runner-up Andrew Reid of Grandview Golf Club who had 210 points.

Creighton had first place finishes at the NSGA Midget championship, the Ashburn Junior Invitational, MJT Atlantic Championship, and in the Midget division at both the Brightwood Junior Invitational and CJGA Championship at Northumberland.

The Digby youth also finished in the top five at seven other tournaments during the season.

Mireille LeBlanc of Clare Golf Club finished first in the amateur women's player of the year division with a total of 250 points. Her season was highlighted with a total of five first place finishes, including the NSGA Women's Amateur, the Jackie Frost, the Yarmouth Field Day and River Hills Field Day.

Eric Locke of the Digby Pines Golf Club was named Western Zone player of the year.

NSGA player of the year is Aaron Nickerson of the River Hills Golf Club who finished the year with a total of 235 points. Nickerson finished the season with five top 10 finishes, including a win at the Don Fleet Memorial tournament at the Digby Pines course in October.
