My parents cottage was one of the ones broken into. It was not the stuff that was stollen that was the problem it was the damage and mess that was made. The window in the door was broken and cottage was completely turned upside down. The article above makes no mention of the damage that was done to the cottages, it makes it seem like only a few things were take when the damage was the greater crime.

Above is the RCMP press release. We thought it important to share that information as quickly as possible. Our reporter, Keith Maryanovich has spoken with a woman whose cottage was broken into and will be reporting on that tomorrow.

Police not releasing all the information gathered at scene of crime is called "hold-back evidence". the purpose of holding back information is to assist police during interview techniques when apprehending suspects. Hold-back information increase chance of success for police during field investigation. It is not good practice to publish all the information police has on hand when investigating a crime.
