The matter was reported to the Kentville police and an investigation is ongoing with criminal charges possible, according to a statement today from South West Health spokesman Fraser Mooney.

The three health authorities are also conducting a joint forensic audit, Mooney said, and as a result of its own internal investigation, an employee based at Annapolis Valley Health has been dismissed for cause.

The full extent of these circumstances will not be known until the police investigation and audit are complete, said Mooney.

The three Health Authorities are cooperating fully with the police investigation and will not release further details pending completion of the investigation.
