Friends rescued a man who fell into Digby harbour last night.

The man fell between scallop boats and the wharf around 1 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.

His friends dragged him from the water and kept him as warm as they could in one of the boats until EHS, the Digby Fire Department and RCMP arrived.

Digby Fire used their basket hoist to lift him from the scallop boat. He was cold but conscious.

The tide was about 2 hours from high. The air temperature was about -1ºC with a 20kmh easterly wind for a feels like temperature of -7ºC.

According to DFO statistics the water temperature in this area in January varies between 0ºC and 5ºC for a mean of 3ºC.
