Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver of a car in the middle of a three-vehicle pile up on Hwy 101 this afternoon.

Smith’s Cove and Digby fire departments, RCMP, EHS and Transportation crews were called to the scene of a collision at Exit 25 just east of the Joggin Bridge on Hwy 101 in Digby County accident just after 4 p.m.

A red Neon was stopped behind a tractor-trailer waiting at the lights for the construction zone at the Joggin Bridge. The grey SUV smashed the Neon up against, but not under the trailer. The SUV ended up beside the Neon and also hit the semi.

The passenger in the Neon and the driver of the SUV were shaken but okay. The driver of the Neon was talking and alert but in some pain. He was taken away by ambulance after firefighters removed the driver side doors of his car.

I am the victim of this car crash, I thought I was going to die,and am still suffering severe pain and discomfort due to a fractured spine, as well as on going nightmares and flashbacks. It was extreme carelessness on the part of the driver, one would expect an apology, not rationalization
