Truck accident closes 101, breaks bystander's leg

 

Traffic is shut down on Highway 101 between Exit 21A at Mary Jane Riley Road to Exit 24 at the Bear River Bridge, after a tractor trailer flipped on the shoulder of the Annapolis side of the bridge...

    Thanks Matthew, Im working to update the story and correct a couple things with it - just got in from spending all evening out there - we did that story by phone-in and things sometimes get mixed up - you should see it fixed up and updated soon

      Hello I am the truck drivers wife! And no the driver did not come away unharmed! He broke his neck and serious internal bleeding and is still in hospital after recieving surgery for his broken neck as well as multiple stitches and servere bruising all over his body. And as for drivers slowing down perhaps you get all the details before you post things. His load shifted and that was the cause of the crash not speed!

    Maybe that huge speed bump on the Digby side of the bridge had something to do with it.All the taxpayers money spent on having a 100km/h speedbump thats only good for flinging stuff around in cars.Glad to see all were safe though!

    Didn't this same thing happen a few years back?? Perhaps these driver's should slow down for the corner...

      The eastlink employee was walking on the shoulder on the outside of the guardrail, not up a pole as reported, no idea how the truck driver came away unharmed, the cab of the truck was crumpled around him
