The waterfront was a beautiful backdrop for the 1st Annual Digby Open Air Art Show held August 25 in Digby.
Six Nova Scotian artists set up tents and easels to sell their art and paint canvases all along the Admiral’s Walk in downtown Digby.
The artists in attendance enjoyed chatting with tourists, mingling with the other artists and some demonstrated their painting techniques.
Digby artist Robert Bowers showcased his vibrant 3-D folk art. Lynn Smith of Digby featured her abstract acrylic paintings. She is a member of the North Range Art Group. Beverly Bennett, of Rossway painted with oils out of the back of her car. Beverly has been travelling to Rossway from her hometown of Georgia, USA, for the past 13 years. She is hoping to offer painting classes in Digby someday in the near future. Thane Bent of Young’s Cove, Annapolis County, had a number of oil paintings on display. Self taught artist Anne Marie Spears traveled from Prospect, NS, and featured her paintings, drawings and handmade jewelry.
Organizer Margaret Gray hopes that the art show will become a yearly summer event in Digby and that word of the show’s success will attract more artists for next year.
