Break-in nets more than $5,500

More than $5,000 in large denomination bills and about $500 in coins was reported stolen on the weekend from a home in the 300 block of Water Street in Westport.

Digby RCMP said the money was taken from a safe, and also stolen was a glass bank containing approximately $500 in one and two dollar coins.

Police said the theft sometime between 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. There was no evidence of forced entry.

Police are seeking assistance in finding those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Digby RCMP at 245-2579 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477
