Digby is still short a few riders so anyone wanting to add their support is welcome, says Angela O’Neil, one of the co-captains. Registration takes place at O’Neil’s Royal Fundy Market and Restaurant or online at www.bigbike.ca

O’Neil and co-captain Pearl Janson are heading the Digby Tickers team in this community’s 13th year of participation in the Big Bike campaign.

The Big Bike provincial tour began Aug. 10 in Metro with over 170 participants, volunteers and spectators. Six teams peddled through the streets of Dartmouth Crossing with more than 100 teams scheduled to ride the bike in 36 Nova Scotia communities.

Riders raised money through pledges and at 4 p.m. next Wednesday will bike from the wharf along Water Street, Montague Row and Warwick Street vand then will turn on First Avenue go to Mount Street and then back track to the wharf.

Last year, 88 teams participated in the event from Sydney to Yarmouth and raised over $212,000. The event has raised almost $2.7 million over the past 18 years.
