New Horizon's is a non-profit organization for seniors aimed at bettering their quality of life in communities. In Bear River they quilt, knit, play cards, put puzzles together and more.

"This funding will help encourage local seniors to continue coming out and participating in the community," said MP Greg Kerr during Thursday’s announcement.

New Horizon's president Lynn Millbury and treasurer Pauline Harden said the funds would go towards a new stove, microwave, furniture and chairs.

The funding is under the capital assistance funding stream of the New Horizons for Seniors program.
