Challoner says they will be submitting the proposal to three RDAs, including Yarmouth and Annapolis-Digby.
“If we land what I think we are going to land, I see the likelihood of 50 jobs created,” he said last week.
Founded by Long Island fisherman Junior Munro, Neptune’s Balance has a range of products that includes creams, cleansers, and a soon to be released water purification system.
Neptune’s Balance cleaning products are sold in 30 Canadian Tire stores and the creams in 24 pharmacies in the Maritimes.
The business owns buildings on Long Island and in Weymouth, and until recently focused its marketing efforts largely in Atlantic Canada, but it’s increasingly apparently the products have a world- wide appeal.
Challoner, the company’s chief executive officer, says the water purification products can help communities that have recurring water quality issues. There also are applications in the aquaculture industry.
On a recent trip to Scotland, potential investors expressed an interest in setting up manufacturer and distribution facilities there, a possibility that Neptune’s Balance’s board of directors is considering.
The company also wants to see its products manufactured and aggressively marketed on this side of the Atlantic.
Fifty jobs possible for Neptune’s Balance
Darrel Challoner of the environmental product company Neptune’s Balance says he’ll be submitting a business plan to three regional development agencies within the next week, looking for government support that will enable the business to manufacture—and create jobs—in Nova Scotia.
