The Municipality of Digby is also developing an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP) and, like the town of Digby, the ICSP steering committee is also relying on citizens to help craft a vision for the future.

Public meetings will be held Tuesday, June 16, in Tiverton, June 17 at the Seabrook municipal office, and June 18 at Weymouth Consolidated School

Holly McMackin, an urban planner representing the firm Dillon Consulting Ltd., has been contracted by the municipality to guide the process, which will see people at the meetings tasked to onsider five questions: “What do you like most about your community? What would you like to change? What are your hopes and dreams for its future? What can you do to make this happen? What key points should be included in our community’s vision statement?”

The municipality’s ICSP steering committee is composed of Warden Jim Thurber, chief administrative officer Linda Fraser, councilors Randall Amero and Linda Gregory, and Andy Moir, Donna Tidd, Jim Outhouse, Harold Alexander, Bob Langeland and Bob Benson.

The goal is to have a draft of the municipality’s ICSP submitted at the beginning of September and McMakin says another open house will be held prior to submission. “We want to finalize the plan the plan before the end of the year,” she said.

People planning to attend one of next week’s public sessions are asked to email DigbyICSP@hotmail.com or contact Scott McMillan of Dillon Consulting at (902) 450-4000.
