A hazardous material support unit is in Ashmore outside Weymouth at the site of a fuel truck accident.

The Esso Comfort truck went off the Lewiston Road late morning, Friday, Feb. 15, slid down an icy embankment and landed on its back.

The truck was carrying some gas but mostly home heating fuel.

Emergency workers helped the driver from the vehicle and took him to Digby General Hospital with light injuries.

The Yarmouth Fire Department sent their hazardous material support unit to the site with a trailer.

Check back for more photos and a full report when Courier editor John DeMings returns from the accident scene.
