But Canada Post is one of the sponsors for the Games and about a month ago Gillis entered a competition which required entrants to submit a hockey team and answer a question.
Winners were announced Nov. 16. Gillis said there were three prizes and the grand prize was a trip for two to the 2010 Olympic games, including airfare, accommodations, free passes to events and $500 in spending money.
“I was never so surprised in all my life,” she said. “I’m really excited, it’s going to be an amazing trip.”
Gillis will take her 17-year-old daughter Amber to the Winter Games.
She said it is a really good trip for the two of them to go on because Amber is the last of seven children to graduate.
Having never traveled out west before, Gillis is looking forward to everything about the trip.
She was not sure which games events they will attend but said she enjoys watching ice-skating, hockey, snowboarding and skiing.
The pair will leave for the Olympic Games in February.
