Queen Annapolisa, as she is known on the festival circuit, has just completed the third year of her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Memorial University—she has one year to go—and says she is aiming for admission to Dalhousie University’s medical school.
Walker was in Digby on the weekend to attend the ‘Princess Tea’, an event taking place throughout the valley these days.
In other communities, princesses are actually chosen at the tea, but here, Princess Digby, 19-year old Chaylene Sarty, was crowned last summer when she became Scallop Days queen.
Sarty and the other valley princesses will be competing May 30 for the crown that Walker is currently wearing.
Sarty is a Commerce student at St. Mary’s University with a lifelong dream of a career with the RCMP.
Walker says the past year has been a very busy one for her. Although her studies have her residing in Newfoundland, her role as Queen Annapolisa has had her in Nova Scotia on monthly basis.
At one time, she had considered competing for the Miss Canada International title, but that pageant takes place in August when she will be taking French Immersion at St. Anne’s—a prize she was awarded at last year’s Apple Blossom Festival.
