People in Digby, Shelburne or Yarmouth counties who do not have a primary health care provider—family physician or nurse practitioner—have six chances to get on the patient list of a new doctor in Yarmouth.

Dr. Kyrash Safakish, a new practitioner at Oceanview Family Practice, is gradually accepting a limited number of new patients over a period of time.

A news release from South West Health advises prospective patients to telephone the clinic 742-4365 only between 1 and 3 p.m. on the following Wednesdays: March 6, March 27, April 10, April 24, May 8 and May 29.

Only 100 eligible patients will be accepted at each date. Callers are asked to have their MSI numbers, date of birth, and current telephone number when they call.

South West Health said it is expected Dr. Safakish will accept a maximum of 1,100 patients incrementally over time. His office will not keep a waiting list.
