A couple from Tiverton have a wedding date to remember.

Amanda and Scott Perry got married at noon last Wednesday, Dec. 12.

That’s 12 o’clock on the 12th day of the 12th month of 2012.

“We thought it was a cool date to get married,” says Amanda. “It’s the last one for how long? Scott and I will never see another date like it. It’s something special.”

The Tiverton couple had been engaged for eight years.

When Scott first proposed on Christmas Eve 2004, he was thinking they would head south like so many other couples do these days and have a Caribbean wedding.

The mother of the bride however preferred something a little closer to home and so the wedding plans got put off a bit.

Years passed, Amanda did her CCA training; she had three children and still no wedding.

In 2010 the couple heard a news report about couples getting married on 10.10.10.

“We thought that was a cool idea and he said let’s do it next year,” says Amanda. “I thought no, Nov. 11 is already a special day, let’s wait for 12.12.12.”

Mr. and Mrs. Perry were married at the Central Grove Church with oil lamps for light and a fire in the woodstove for heat.

The hall and the bridal party were decorated in red for Christmas.

While most brides hope for clear skies, Amanda was hoping for a bit of snow.

Still the weather was fine and best of all the couple were wed on a date to remember—literally.

Amanda says the best thing about the date is it should make things easy for Scott.

“He can’t forget the anniversary date,” she says with a laugh.
