A class of 19 students received high school diplomas during graduation exercises at St. Mary’s Bay Academy.
Neil Mullen received both the Governor-General’s Academic Medal and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Medal at the graduation ceremony, Wednesday night, June 27.
Mullen won the Academic 12 English award, was named Male Athlete and received nearly $2000 in bursaries.
Class valedictorian Meghan Doucette received $1900 in bursaries and Erik Saulnier was awarded $1300.
Bradley Gavel opened the ceremony with the singing of O Canada and the Prayer of Invocation as well as performing a musical selection he had written for the graduation. Mariah Cromwell gave the benediction.
Megan Mellor received the Donald and Paula Westby Centennial Award for contribution to student affairs, the Tri-County Regional School Board Community Award and the Tuscan Lodge Citizenship Award.
Kerri Fancy was named Female Athlete, Gregory Nesbitt received the English Communication 12 Award, Bethany Ryan took the Sociology 12 Award and Meghan Doucette was awarded Global Geography 12.
Grade 11 honors with distinction student Leah Hankinson received the Advanced Math 12 Award, the Physics 12 Award and the Biology 12 Award. She was also the recipient of The Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia Award.
In her principal’s address Janece McNutt congratulated all those graduating wishing them much success in whatever path they chose to follow.
