The Smart Einsteins from Weymouth Consolidated School captured both the overall title and gold in the grade 4 division at the Tri-County Regional Science Olympics.

The event was held June 7 in Meadowfields Community School in Yarmouth and saw student teams from schools throughout the Tri-Counties.

The winning Weymouth Consolidated team consisted of Kaylee White, Melina Marr, Renée Ford and Aaron Potvin. They had a score of 26.66 out of 25 to win the overall regional championship.

Yarmouth area schools won gold in grade 5 and grade 6 competition.

Digby Olympics

The Smart Einsteins advanced to the regional Science Olympics after winning at the Digby County Science Olympics held recently in the Digby and Area Arena.

The list of winners there were:

Grade  4

First:  the Smart Einsteins.

Second:  Explosive 4, Digby Elementary School—Kennedy Patterson, Destiny Gumbley, Xavier Halliday, Ryan Gunn.

Third:  Mad Scientists, DES—Justin Barr, Molly MacNaugton, Tristin Wright, Ethan Clayton.

Grade  5

First:  Smarty-Pants, DES—Zoe Amirault, Libby Graham, Caitlyn Rice, Michael Murphy.

Second:  Islands Science Vikings from Islands Consolidated School—Raine Prime, Ian Desmarais, Dawson Thurber, Ben Dixon.

Third:  Science Addictz, DES—Emily Veinot, Olivia Haight, Ben Wilson, Jacob Clayton.

Grade  6

First:  Science Freak’s, DES—Cathy Robicheau, Katie MacLean, Brodie Robicheau, Kehat Beukes.

Second:  Lightning Bolts, Weymouth Consolidated—Jill Gaudett, Lyndon Gaudett,  Asia Lombard, Alex Prime.

Third: Experimenters of Science, DES —Britney Porter, Jeimie Robicheau, Seth Freeman, Zachary Lewis.
