As all moms know, good nutrition is the cornerstone of life-long health. Healthy eating habits developed early on can help shape children into healthy and strong adults. We were all young at one time, so we know that children's lives can be pretty exhausting. Between homework, after-school activities and playtime they have a lot on their plates, so it is important to give them the nutrition they need to stay active.
As adults, we know that a balanced diet that includes essential nutrients is important for a healthy lifestyle. This is especially important for children. In fact, fibre and nutrients such as calcium, iron and magnesium, among others, are all important nutrients that contribute to a healthy diet. Foods like whole grain breads can help fuel children through their active daily lives.
Registered dietitian, Lynn Weaver, recommends teaching kids about the variety of healthy food options available that offer the essential nutrients they need now—and as they grow up. “When choosing foods for your children, it's important to show them that a healthy, balanced diet can have a lot of variety and be filled with foods they love,” says Lynn. “We owe it to our children to help shape them into the healthy adults we want them to be.”
